Marialy Rivas<\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Filminute is thrilled to welcome Chilean filmmaker Marialy Rivas<\/a> to the 2024 jury. Known for her 2012 debut feature Young and Wild<\/a><\/em>, which won the World Cinema Screenwriting Award at Sundance<\/p>\n\n\n\n

and her follow-up Princesita<\/em>, which premiered at the 2017 Toronto International Film Festival, Marialy has also directed music videos, TV shows (including HBO\u2019s Perry Mason<\/em>), and over 500 commercials.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Her success with short films will especially resonate with the Filminute audience. Marialy’s 1996 short Desde Siempre<\/em> won the Santiago Short Film Festival and was reviewed in the esteemed Cahiers du Cin\u00e9ma<\/a><\/em>. She co-directed Smog<\/em> in 2005 with Filminute jury alum Sebasti\u00e1n Lelio<\/a>. Her 2010 short Blokes<\/em> was a Cannes Short Film Palme d\u2019Or contender and won over 50 festival awards, while her 2015 documentary short Melody<\/em> was featured in the New York Times’ OpDocs<\/a> series. All her films are produced by F\u00e1bula<\/a>, led by acclaimed Latin American producers Pablo and Juan de Dios Larra\u00edn.

Marialy\u2019s impressive and versatile body of work across multiple formats makes her an ideal fit for the Filminute jury. We\u2019re looking forward to her insights on this year’s films. Bienvenida, Marialy!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Paola is a leading voice in Italian cinema, regularly contributing to MYmovies<\/a>, Italy’s top film website, and frequently appearing on television to share her insights. Her work is also featured in the cultural and arts sections of Corriere della Sera<\/em>, as well as in renowned publications such as Cinecritica<\/em>, Cineforum<\/em>, Bianco e Nero<\/em>, and 8 e mezzo<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Beyond her criticism, Paola teaches Cinema History, Film Criticism, and Film Industry studies at Universit\u00e0 Cattolica and other prestigious Italian universities. Her influence extends to film festivals worldwide, where she has served on the juries of many of the industry’s leading festivals (including Cannes and Venice) further solidifying her reputation as an authority on global cinema.

She has served as a consultant for Grey\u2019s Anatomy<\/em>, received a GLAAD award<\/a> for her appearance on The Oprah Winfrey Show<\/em>, and is an active member of The Television Academy, Screen Actors Guild, AICP, GLAAD, and The Female Founder Collective<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
