For 2019 Filminute continues to strengthen a number of long-standing initiatives as well as add new ones, all in the name of extending the reach and support that the festival offers.

LES FILMS DE CANNES A BUCAREST
2019 marks the fourth year that Filminute has collaborated with this unique festival which, each October, screens the winning and selected films from the previous spring’s Cannes Film Festival. The brainchild of Palme d’Or-winning Romanian director, Cristian Mungiu, the festival has in recent years expanded its reach and program, including the pairing with (and screening of) films from the annual Filminute collection before Cannes films. Their jury also awards the Filminute Trophy to their favourite film from our collection.
Filminute has partnered with Shorts TV for the past three years. This year we celebrate with a 30-minute retrospective program which will be broadcast to more than 30 million viewers in 6 languages during the festival. Click below to see the trailer and a link to the broadcast schedule.
The popular file transfer service is a new Filminute partner for 2019. Through this collaboration, millions of users of the service in August were made aware of the Filminute 2019 Call For Entries. During October, Wetransfer pages will encourage users of their service to visit Filminute.com and participate in the festival.
2019 marks the 13th year that Filminute has partnered with FIPRESCI, the international federation of film critics. Each year FIPRESCI, through its General Secretary, Klaus Eder, nominates a juror from its ranks to the Filminute jury. The discipline, experience and insights that FIPRESCI jurors bring to the awarding of films at Filminute is invaluable and has added greatly to the collective understanding of what makes a great one-minute film. This year we are very pleased to have Alin Tascayin, an Instanbul-based film critic and the Deputy General Secretary of FIPRESCI.
Since it’s launch in 2006, Filminute has been very fortunate to have partnered with the highly respected Tuscan writing retreat established to honor the great novelist and memoirist, Gregor Von Rezzori. Run now by his wife, Beatrice Monti della Corte, the retreat has welcomed some of the greatest writers of our time including Bruce Chatwin, Michael Ondaatje, Zadie Smith and many more. Each year, Santa Maddalena nominates one of its writers to the Filminute jury.
